As a photographer working on the go most days, my laptop is always with me when I need it. More importantly, I always carry along my card reader and a portable hard disk in my bag since my laptop is always running out of space.
They always say that the worst thing that can happen to a photographer is losing all of your images and that is so true! I always have this constant fear that my memory card would suddenly wipe out everything or that I’d accidentally delete the images before having them delivered. And so my general workflow would be to always back up the raw files, edit them, and then back them up again. Talk about being extra careful!
In today’s post I’m going to share with you one of the functional and stylish portable drive I’ve had so far — the Touro S — and how it has improved my workflow so far. As a big fan of Western Digital storage devices (I already have 2 WD 500GB portable disks and 2 non-portable 2TB drives), I was really excited when HGST, a WD company, approached me to give the Touro S a try!
Let me just run through a few key features that the Touro S flaunts:
Four stylish colors with a metallic finish (Gold, Silver, Titanium, & Ruby)
Two sizes (500GB & 1TB)
Fast transfer with USB 3.0 Interface and 7200RPM hard drive
Up to 23% faster than a 5400RPM drive
Two levels of protection — local and free 3GB cloud backup
Three year limited warranty
The drive I’m featuring today is the 1TB in Gold! Let me just say, I’m so excited over the cloud backup feature. I always like to access my files and photos over my various mobile devices, whether it is my iPhone, iPad or MacBook, and I always turn to cloud software like Google Drive or Dropbox because of the convenience it offers although sometimes I’m still afraid data may get wiped out.
However, with the Touro S, I can now rest assured because there are both local and cloud backups of my important files. I know there’s only 3GB of free cloud storage, but if you upgrade to a paid account, you’ll get 250GB of storage immediately!
As much as I love traditional pen, paper and print, we can’t deny that digital media is overtaking. So whether you’re a photographer like me, or a digital artist, businessperson, or even a student, I’m sure you’ll find the Touro S a very trustworthy portable drive like I do.
(Now scroll on for the best part of the deal!)

Lastly, I also love how it beautifully matches my champagne gold gadgets (both my iPhone 5s and 6) whenever I place them on the desk. Speaking of which, buy any HGST Touro Product and stand a chance to win an iPhone 6 weekly until 31st December 2014!
